With its cosmopolitan shopping, soaring Art Deco architecture, and exciting nightlife, Miami, Fl is an exciting place to live. Home to the largest Latin American population outside of Latin America, Miami is a diverse, ever-evolving city and a center for culture and the performing arts.
Called the Magic City, Miami earned its nickname during a period of growth so rapid visitors could see the changes from one trip to the next. Between 1896 and 2006 the city grew from just over 1,000 residents to a population of over 463,000 in the city proper and 6.1 million in the Miami metropolitan area.
The second most populous city in the state, Miami’s satellite cities and suburbs include Davie, Deerfield Beach, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Weston, Miami Beach, Palmetto Bay, Boca Raton, and Parkland. The city is only twenty miles away from the beautiful beaches of Fort Lauderdale.
Miami represents the largest urban economy in Florida, and is an important international business center. The city’s proximity to Latin America makes Miami a popular location for the Latin American headquarters of many multinational companies, including Sony, Walmart, and Disney. Several passenger cruise lines make their headquarters in Miami, which has been considered the #1 passenger cruise port in the world for the last two decades.
Miami weather can be divided into two seasons. The wet summer months last mid-April to the end of October, with high humidity and temperatures in the upper 80s. From November to April the city experiences dryer, cooler weather with temperatures ranging from the 60s to 70s.
