Indianapolis is known as the Racing Capital of the World, and with good reason; the city plays host to the Indy 500, the largest single-day sporting event on the planet. The city is home to a major zoo, over 200 parks and nature preserves, and multiple festivals, including the Indy Fringe Festival and Gen-Con, a four day celebration of video gaming.
The state capital of Indiana, Indianapolis is the seat of Marion County and home to over 860,000 residents. An additional 2.4 million people live in the Indianapolis metropolitan region in satellite cities and suburbs such as Plainfield, Greenwood, Whitestown, Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, Meridian Hills, Westfield, Noblesville, and Avon.
Indianapolis’ central location makes it the ideal for the distribution industry. Over 1,500 distribution firms call the city home, including the second largest FedEx hub in the world. In addition to distribution, the city’s economy relies on finance insurance, manufacturing, wholesale trade, educational services, life sciences, and biotech.
